![]() ![]() I mounted my shades inside the window and I knew going in that the header would stick out about an inch. Take that into account when deciding if you want motorized shades. The header is slighter wider than a coventional shade because of the motor. ![]() Installation was straight forward and didn't take long. Measure twice and cut once goes double when it involves non-returnable shades, especially when inside mounted. If you don't have that luxury then measure many times. They arrived in 8 days and were well packaged and included all necessay hardware with a couple of different mounting options.Ī point to note: I was replacing existing shades which had the exact measurement printed on the inside of the header. While the RTS motors can be found in a number of different manufacture's blinds, I could only find the Zwave SOMFY motors in Bali and Graber (same manufacturer). The motors are well-made and I have replaced the batteries once in about 4 years. I have a set of wood slat blinds that have Somfy motors and the Somfy RTS single channel interface (not z-wave). Why I ordered Bali? I wanted Zwave shades that would work with ISY and Alexa out of the box (well almost). So, the motorized shades were significantly more expensive. The non-motorized version of the same shades was in the $300s for three shades. For those interested, 3 cellular shades approx 29 x 58 with 2 remotes (single channel and 12 channel) was approx $800. Ordering from Costco online actually takes you to the Bali site where the order is taken and shipped. At the time of purchase Costco was significantly less expensive than other outlets. I wound up ordering Bali cellular shades with autoview motors from Costco. Here's an update of my search and ultimate purchase. Why did you pick one over the other and do you wish you went the other way? I see some have rechargeables with solar now too as an option. Im looking at hardwiring them via the plug in options. How is the zwave integration with the ISY? Any issues? For my French door with sidelights exit door, I am thinking two outside mounts with one header mounted above the door that would have a gap in middle for door handles but would cover the glass.Īnyone go with Zebra or Bali Blinds? Why you picked one over the other? Im looking at doing an inside mount across the entire bay with seat. My windows are large with mostly large bay type windows with 3 windows going across each bay. Why do it? Its mostly ambience and convenience of programming them open and closed without walking around the house and doing it manually daily. I saw a YouTube Video of a guy that made his own Insteon shades using parts, but pricing all that out wasnt cheap either. We are either going to go with cellular shades or roller shades. Im looking for zwave for direct integration into the ISY without having to use a separate bridge.Īfter much research, the 2 best solutions I found are from and Bali.
